Rafting -- The many rivers which run through the Appalachian Mountains provide for excellent rafting and canoeing.  Difficulity varies with rapids ranging from Class I to Class V in most areas.

Skiing -- During the winter and early spring ski slopes all over the region welcome snowbunnies from near and afar.  Both man made and natural powder can be found depending on elevation and weather conditions.

Biking -- Whether it be mountain biking or road racing that you're looking for, Western North Carolina offers some of the most challenging uphill, endurance climbs in the sport.  Should you be feeling a bit more relaxed and in search of a leisurely ride through rolling terrain, trails such as those found at Cades Cove are perfectly suitable and lend themselves to sighting early morning wildlife.

Golfing -- Sand and water traps are waiting for the weekend golfer at courses across the region.  From the Grove Park Inn in Asheville to Wade Hampton in Cashiers, golfers are sure to find several locations to tee off from.

Cades Cove --  The 11 mile loop is closed to cars on Saturdays until 10:00AM, spring through mid-September so bicyclists may enjoy a peaceful ride.
Cataloochee & Sugarlands Ski Slopes
Tuckaseegee, Ocoee, and Nantahala Rivers -- Open for rafting and canoeing during peak season.
Golf Courses -- Wade Hampton, High Hampton, Grove Park Inn, Waynesville Country Club, etc.
